Masamichi Mochizuki
(Assistant Professor)
I started to work at Reitaku University in 1992. Before that I worked at Otsuma Ranzan Girls' High school, Saitama, for seven years and spent two years for my degree in Essex, England.
My research work focuses on vocabulary learning: how learners acquire words. My present research is on measuring a learner's receptive vocabulary size; how many words a learner knows. I'm a member of the Institute for Research in Language Teaching and Japan Association of College English Teachers. You will find my research works in the journals of these two bodies.
Since I teach reading on Britain, I have taken to British films; they show clearly how life in Britain is. I have a collection of approximately 50 British films, which were broadcasted on TV. Feel free to borrow one if you happen to be a student of Reitaku University. When I'm not tied to a computer, I enjoy playing "go", a board game played with white and black stones, though I seldom have time to improve my skills on it these days. I also like playing golf in the campus course. It relaxes me a lot, though the scores depress me as much.
